PAINTING SHAPES

Cut paper into a large geometric shape (circle, square, triangle or rectangle) and pin paper on painting easel. |

Have your child wear a painting shirt and encourage him to paint the shape. |

PAINTING SHAPES (2)

Place a large sheet of paper on a painting easel and let your child paint as she wishes on the paper. |
|
When the paint is dry, cut the paper into a large shape. |
|
GLUING SHAPES
|
Cut simple geometric shapes out of colored paper (approx. 2” wide). |
|
Set out the shapes. |
|
Give your child a paper plate with glue spread across the middle of the plate. |
|
Have your child place an assortment of shapes on the glue. |
|
Let dry. |
Alternative: You could also let your child place the shapes onto a piece of self-stick paper. |
|
PLAY DOUGH SHAPES
|
Roll out some play dough with a rolling pin. |
|
Give your child a shape cookie cutter. |
|
Encourage your child to make shape impressions on the play dough. |
|
SURPRISE SHAPES
|
Ahead of time, draw simple shapes onto white paper with a white crayon. |
|
Give the papers to your child. |
|
Have your child paint across the paper with a paint wash (half paint/half water). |
|
Discuss with your child the name of the shape that magically appears on his paper. |
|
SHAPE STICKS
|
Set out some small craft sticks for your child to arrange in different ways. |
|
Show your child how to make squares and triangles from the sticks. |
