FRIENDSHIP BRACELETS
You will need colored macaroni for this activity.
Give your children 12” lengths of yarn, that you have taped one end for a needle. |
Set out some colored macaroni. |
Tie a piece of macaroni on the end of each child’s string. |
Have children string the macaroni on the yarn. |
When finished, help child to cut off end pieces and tie a sturdy knot. |
Encourage children to give their bracelets to a friend. |
Note: You can color plain macaroni by mixing rubbing alcohol and food coloring together and soaking the macaroni in the solution. Make 2-4 different colors. |
Alternative: Take colorful plastic drinking straws and cut them into 1” pieces. Use the straw pieces in place of the macaroni for stringing. |
FRIENDSHIP WREATHS
Have children each make orange hand prints on paper. |
Cut out the hand prints and write each child’s name on his hand. |
Give each child his hand print. |
Cut the middle out of a few paper plates. |
Have your children work in groups of 3. |
Give each group a paper rim, some glue, and some additional cut hand shapes in fall colors from construction paper. |
Have children take turns gluing their hand and another colored hand onto the group wreath. |
Hang up the friendship wreaths in your room. |
Alternative: To make the wreaths more like fall wreaths, have children each make two hand prints in a variety of fall colors, ie, red, orange, yellow and brown. |
FRIENDSHIP BOATS
Have children each pick a friend and sit down on the floor together. |
Next, have children face each other and make their outstretched legs touch one another. |
Finally, have children lean forward and grab onto each other’s hands. |
Then have children lean one way, then the other in a rowing fashion. |
Have everyone sing “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” as the “friends” row merrily down the stream. |
MOVEMENT ACTIVITIES – TWO BY TWO
Have children choose a partner and skip across the yard (or room) holding hands. |
Continue with other movements, such as, running, hopping, marching, etc. |
Or have children play a roll the ball, or toss the ball to each other game.
FRIEND GAMES
Plan a special friendship game time. |
Set out some games that children can play:
Two people – such as a puzzle, card matching games, Memory, etc.
Four people – board games, bingo, lotto, etc. |
COOPERATION SNACKS
Plan some snacks for children that will take cooperation by the children to make. Give each child one ingredient and remind children that their snack would not be much good without the ingredients of the others.
Suggested snacks to make:
Lemonade
Trail Mix
Milkshakes
Cheese and crackers
Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches |

ROW, ROW, ROW YOUR BOAT
Tune: “Row, Row, Row Your Boat
Row, row, row the boat,
Gently with a friend.
The more we row,
Our friendship grows.
May our friendship never end.

THE FRIENDS ARE MARCHING
Tune: “The Ants Are Marching Two by Two”
The friends are marching into town, hooray, hooray!
The friends are marching in a great big Friend’s parade.
Friends are here, friends are there,
Friends are almost everywhere!
Oh, we’re oh so glad that the friends are here to day.

IF YOU WANT TO MAKE A FRIEND
Tune: “If You’re Happy And You Know It”
If you want to make a friend, shake a hand.
If you want to make a friend, shake a hand.
If you want a friend that’s new, then say, “How do you do?”
If you want to make a friend, shake a hand.
