SPECTACULAR SPIDERS continued...

SPIDER, SPIDER
Spider, spider,
Oh so small,
Crawling on
The garden wall,
When you stop
I'll watch you spin
A little web
For resting in.
          Elizabeth Scofield

(Have children act out if you wish.)

I WISH I WERE A SPIDER
Tune: "Did You Ever See a Lassie?"

Oh, I wish I were a spider,
A spider, a spider.
Oh, I wish I were a spider,
'Cause here's what I'd do.
I'd weave my web this way,
And weave my web that way.
Oh, I wish I were a spider,
'Cause that's what I'd do.

More Verses: I'd crawl around this way, and crawl around that way; I'd hop and hop this way, and hop and hop that way. Can your children come up with other verses?

                Elizabeth Scofield

SANDWICH SPIDERS

For spider bodies, let your children make peanut butter sandwiches with cut-out rounds of wheat bread. Help them insert thin pretzel sticks between the bread rounds for legs and add raisins with small dabs of peanut butter for eyes.
