STORYTIME FUN WITH BLACK
- Read Ten Black Dots by Donald Crews. Have
your children make black paper dots with a hole
punch and use them to create pictures.
- Start a story about a black stuffed animal
and let the children continue it.

BLACK SHADOWS
- Find a plain wall and shine a bright light
on it. Let your children stand in between and
experiment with creating shadows on the wall.
- Provide white crayons for tracing around
familiar objects on black paper. Have the children
cut out the shapes and glue them on butcher
paper for "shadows."
- Invite the children to match the familiar
objects to their shadow shapes.

WE KNOW THE COLOR BLACK
Tune: "The Farmer in the Dell"
We know the color black.
We know the color black.
Tires and crows and licorice, too,
They are colored black.
Continue singing, inviting your children to name other things
that are colored black.
