MARVELOUS MITTENS continued...

MITTEN HUNT
Collect one pair of mittens for each child in your group. Secretly hide one mitten from each pair and give each of your children one of the other mittens to put on a hand. Invite the children to search for their matching mittens and put them on their other hands.

MITTEN-POKEY
Have your children put on mittens and stand in a circle. Then lead them in acting out the movements as you sing the song below
Tune: "Hokey-Pokey"

You put your right mitten in,
You put your right mitten out,
You put your right mitten in
And you turn it all about.
You do the Mitten-Pokey
And you turn yourself around.
That's what it's all about.

More Verses: You put your left mitten in; You put your two mittens in.

Adapted Traditional

MITTEN SNACKS

Make mitten cookies, using a favorite recipe and a mitten cookie cutter. Let your children frost the cookies and decorate them with sprinkles. Or make mitten-shaped peanut butter sandwiches for the children to decorate with raisins and dried fruit bits.
