(Story may be sung to the tune of "The Twelve Days
of Christmas")
On the first day of summer,
I saw to my surprise,
A nest that was high up in a tree.
On the second day of summer,
I saw to my surprise,
Two robins smiling,
In a nest, that was high up in a tree.
On the third day of summer,
I saw to my surprise,
Three blue eggs,
Two robins smiling,
In a nest, that was high up in a tree.
On the fourth day of summer,
I saw to my surprise,
Four wings a-flapping,
Three eggs a-cracking,
Two robins smiling,
In a nest, that was high up in a tree.
On the fifth day of summer,
I saw to my surprise,
Five worms a-wiggling,
Four wings a-flapping,
Three babies crying,
Two robins smiling,
In a nest, that was high up in a tree.
On the sixth day of summer,
I saw to my surprise,
Six small wings a-flapping,
Five worms a-wiggling,
Four wings a-flying,
Three babies crying,
Two robins smiling,
In a nest, that was high up in a tree.
On the seventh day of summer,
I saw to my surprise,
No babies crying,
No wings a-flapping,
No worms a-wiggling,
No robins smiling
No one was left,
In the nest, that was high up in a tree.
