Out in the desert
Where cactus grow
There aren't many places
For the birds to all go.
There aren't many trees,
With branches and leaves.
There aren't many places,
For birds nests to squeeze.
Since the cactus don't like
Living alone,
They invite the bird's
To come make their homes.
First a woodpecker
Pecks out a door,
Then other birds come
And peck out some more.
Inside, the cactus
Helps plaster each nest,
Making it dry,
A good place to rest.
Now in the desert
Everyone wins.
The birds can all stay
At a big Cactus Inn!
