CAT PATTERN ACTIVITIES

CAT PUZZLES
Using the large pattern, cut a cat shape out of black poster board.
Then, cut the cat shape into four pieces.
Give the pieces to your child and have her try to fit the pieces back into a cat shape.

NOTE: You can cut the puzzle into more pieces for more advanced children.

COLOR MATCH-UPS
Using the medium pattern, cut out eight cats from four different colors of paper.
Mix up the cats and give them to your child.
Have him sort through the colored cats and find four matching pairs of cats.

TEXTURE MATCH-UPS
Using the medium pattern, cut out eight cats from four different textures of paper or material
Mix up the cats and give them to your child.
Have her sort them into four sets of textured cats.

FUZZY BLACK CATS
Using the large pattern, cut out a large black cat shape for your child from black paper.
Give your child the paper cat, some glue in a bowl, a glue brush and some black felt.
Have your child brush glue across his cat
Then have him slowly pull off pieces of the felt and place them all over his cat.

CAT BEGINNING READER
Using the small pattern, cut out five cats from black paper.
Next, go through magazines with your child to find five pictures of different scenes.
Next, take six pieces of 8 ½" x 11" paper and staple them together to create a book.
Write "My Black Cat's Adventures" on the cover of the book.
Help your child glue the scenes on the pages of her book.
Then have her glue a black cat somewhere on each page.
Finally, have your child "read" her book to you, making up a story about the black cat and it's adventures.

FELT BOARD - COUNTING RHYME
Using the small or medium pattern, cut five cats out of felt.
Place the cats on a felt board and let your child help you remove the cats from the felt board as you recite the following rhyme.

FIVE LITTLE KITTENS

Five little kittens
At the store.
One was sold
That left four.

Four little kittens
Meowing at me.
Another one was sold
That left three.

Three little kittens
With lots to do.
Another was sold
That left two.

Two little kittens
Having so much fun.
Another was sold
That left one.

One little kitten
Now all alone.
I bought that kitten
And took it home.
