PARTY
Take your children to a real park if possible, if not a front room or backyard will do. In fact a winter picnic in the house sounds like fun. |
INVITATION IDEAS
You could either buy Yogi Bear invitations or you could make an invitation by drawing a picnic basket on the plain side of an index card. Write an appropriate greeting such as; “It’s Paul’s Birthday, We’re Going On a Picnic”, above or below the basket picture. Then on the back of the card, give the details of the party; such as, when, where, etc.

FAVOR IDEAS

Candy cups – set out small paper cups or nut cups filled with candy for party favors. |

DECORATION IDEAS
|
A checkered table cloth and a picnic basket could add a lot of color to your party. |
|
If you are having this picnic indoors, you could hang paper flowers and butterflies down from the ceiling.

FOOD IDEAS
|
Eat food on a picnic table or on a blanket placed on the ground. |
|
Serve Kool-Aid or punch in paper cups. |
 |
Cook hot dogs, serve with potato salad and chips. |
|
Serve a birthday cake shaped like a large ladybug or butterfly. |
|
|
PAPER KITES
|
You will need construction paper, string, paper streamers, tape and a stapler. |
|
Using a large piece of construction paper, cut out a large paper kite. |
 |
On the bottom sides of the kite shape let your child help you staple on some crepe paper streamers. |
|
Then let your child decorate the kite with marking pens. |
|
When finished, tie a string near the top point of the kite and reinforce the hole with some tape. |
|
Show your child how to run with the kite streaming out behind her.
|

CREPE PAPER STREAMERS
 |
You will need crepe paper streamers and some tape for this activity. |
|
Give each child four or five crepe paper streamers with one end of each stacked together. |
|
Help your child wrap the ends together with tape to form a tape handle. |
|
Children love holding onto their streamers and running with them as they flutter behind them. |
