BED TIME SONGS

DREAM CATCHER SONG
Here is a fun song to sing with your children.  Display an Indian dream catcher and explain to them that dream catchers were used to filter out bad dreams.  You may want to discuss with your children ways to cope with bad dreams.

Tune:  “My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean”

I’m going to make a Dream Catcher.
I’m going to weave it just right.
I’m going to add some feathers
And beads to make it so bright.

Dream Catcher, Dream Catcher
Catch my dreams that are bad.
Dream Catcher, Dream Catcher
Bring me dreams that are glad!

I’m going to hang my Dream Catcher
Over my bed to – night,
So I will have only sweet dreams
Until the morning is light.

Dream Catcher, Dream Catcher
Catch my dreams that are bad.
Dream Catcher, Dream Catcher
Bring me dreams that are glad!

SLEEPY HEAD
Tune:  “The Old Man”

Sleepyhead, time for bed.
Time for sandman over head.
To sprinkle fairy dust here and all around,
So you’ll sleep, nice and sound.

Sleepyhead, time for bed.
Close your eyes and dream instead
Of all the fun things you like to do,
While I sing this song to you.

DREAM A HAPPY DREAM
Tune:  “ Go In and Out The Window”

It’s time to rest your head.
It’s time to rest your head.
It’s time to rest your head
And dream a happy dream.

It’s time to rest your feet.
It’s time to rest your feet.
It’s time to rest your feet
And dream a happy dream.

It’s time to rest your eyes.
It’s time to rest your eyes.
It’s time to rest your eyes
And dream a happy dream.

NIGHTY NIGHT
Tune:  “Rock-a-bye-Baby”

Nighty night Alex
In your own bed.
Rest your feet.
Rest your head.

When your eyes close
Just count the sheep.
Until you fall—
Fast asleep!

WISHING ON A STAR
Tune:  “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star”

Twinkle, twinkle shinning stars,
Some so close, some so far.
I will choose one that is bright.
I will make a wish to night.
I will wish my dreams come true,
And have good dreams the whole night through.
