FROG SONGS & RHYMES

FOUR LITTLE FROGS
One little frog balancing
On a lily pad of green.
He thought it was, so much fun,
He called for another frog to come.

Two little frogs balancing
On a lily pad of green.
They thought it was, so much fun,
They called for another frog to come.

Three little frogs balancing
On a lily pad of green.
They thought it was, so much fun,
They called for another frog to come.

Four little frogs balancing
On a lily pad of green.
They thought it was so much fun
Until they sank into the mud!
Glub, glub, glub!
Jean Warren

FIVE GREEN AND SPECKLED FROGS
Five green and speckled frogs
Sat on a speckled log,
Eating some most delicious bugs.
Yum, Yum!
One jumped into the pool
Where it was nice and cool,
Then there were four green speckled frogs.
Ribbit, ribbit, ribbit!
(Continue rhyme until all frogs jump into the pool)
Traditional
Have your children act out the rhyme if possible.

I’M A LITTLE GREEN FROG
Tune: “Little White Duck”

I’m a little green frog, swimming in the water.
A little green frog doing what he ‘otter.
I jumped upon a lily pad
I caught a fly and I said, “I’m glad”.
I’m a little green frog, sitting in the sun.
Ribbit, ribbit, ribbit!

I’m a little green frog, sitting in the sun.
A little green frog, having lots of fun.
I thought I saw a friend swim by
So I jumped in the water to say “hi”.
I’m a little green frog, swimming in the water.
Ribbit, ribbit, ribbit!
Adapted Traditional
Have your children take turns acting out this song.

THERE'S A LITTLE GREEN FROG

Tune: "There's A Little White Duck"

There's a little green frog
Swimming in the water.
A little green frog
Doing what he oughter.

He jumped up on a lily pad,
Opened his eyes
And said, "I'm glad".

There's a little green frog
Doing what he oughter
Ribbit, ribbit, ribbit!

There's a little black bug
Floating in the water.
A little black bug
Doing what he oughter.

He floated past the lily pad.
The frog saw lunch
And he said, "I'm glad".

There's a little green frog
Sitting on the pad,
Munch, munch, munch!
Adapted traditional

ONE GREEN BULL FROG

One green bull frog
Sitting on a brown log
Eating tiny black bugs
Yum, yum, yum!

One green bull frog
Sitting on a brown log
Singing his frog song
Ribbit, ribbit, ribbit!

One green bull frog
Sitting on a brown log
Jumped in the water,
Glub, glub, glub!

THREE LITTLE FROGS

Three little frogs
Sitting on a log
On a sunny day.
Three little frogs
Jumped off the log
And then they hopped away.

IN THE POND
Tune: "The Farmer In The Dell"

The frog lives in the pond,
His tongue is oh so long.
It reaches high to catch a fly
And then he sings this song.

Ribbit, ribbit, ribbit
Ribbit, ribbit, ribbit
High, ho just watch him go
His tongue is oh so long!
Jean Warren

COOL POLLIWOG

Tune: "Kookaburra"

Polliwog swims in the pond all day.
Swishing his tail every way.
Swim polliwog, swim polliwog.
How cool your life must be!
Polliwog soon grows four long legs.
He climbs on land and hops away!
Hop little frog, hop little frog.
How cool your life must be!
Jean Warren

All of the above poems can be acted out by your children. Just change the words to accommodate additional frogs or polliwogs.
