FARM PICTURES
Point out the names of the animals you see in pictures of farm animals that you see in signs, museums, picture books, or on T.V.

TOY ANIMALS
Look for toy animals to purchase for your child that include animal families. Use the animals to make up stories about the animals. Encourage your child to also make up stories, including the appropriate names for the animals.

ANIMAL SONGS
A fun way to help children remember the names of the various family members of farm animals is to sing the following versions of “Farmer In The Dell” and “Old MacDonald”.

OLD MAC DONALD
Tune: “Old Mac Donald Had A Farm”

Old Mac Donald had a farm – e-i-e-i-o.
And on this farm he had some chickens –e-i-e-i-o.
With a father rooster and a mother hen
Here a chick, there a chick, everywhere a chick, chick, chick.
Old Mac Donald had a farm –e-i-e-i-o.

Heigh-ho; the derry-oh
The Stallion takes a Mare.

The Mare takes a Foal,
