Here are some gift wrap and gift decoration ideas your preschoolers can help you make this holiday season.
|
HOLIDAY GIFT WRAP - SHAPE RUBBINGS
- Give your child some plain newsprint paper.
- Tape some cardboard holiday cutouts on your kitchen table.
- Have your child lay her paper on top of the cutouts.
- Then take a paperless crayon and lay it sideways.
- Now press the crayon across the top of the paper, over the cutouts, creating shape rubbings.
- Children can use one color of crayon or multiple holiday colors for their gift paper.
|
HOLIDAY GIFT WRAP - STAMPING
- Set out some newsprint and several holiday rubber stamps.
- Next, set out some ink pads.
- Let your child take a rubber stamp, press it into the ink pad, then press it onto his paper, two or three times.
- Repeat the process, with the same stamp or with different stamps.
|
HOLIDAY GIFT DECORATION - NOSE-GAYS
- Set out a variety of small holiday objects, such as; stickers, poms, paper holly leaves, sequins, small silk flowers, teeny tiny pine cones, other small holiday decorations.
- Now give your child one or two small red or gold doilies and some glue.
- Have your child spread some glue onto the doily, then place an arrangement of holiday decorations on top of the glue.
- Let dry, then tape or glue the decoration on the top of a special holiday gift.
|
HOLIDAY GIFT TAGS – GLITTER SHAPES
- Using light colored cardboard, cut out 3” holiday shapes.
- Punch a hole in the top of each shape.
- Set out some glue and some colored glitter.
- Give the cutouts to your child and let her spread glue on them, then sprinkle them with some glitter.
- When dry, use the cutouts as name tags.
Variation: Instead of glue and glitter, let your child decorate the cutouts using glitter pens, or colored glue pens.
